I was amused by "Historic site"  when referring to Margate, I will always associate Hornby with Binns road Liverpool. Margate was comparatively recent  surelyin terms of company history.

How many roads must a man walk down ... ... ... ... ... before he knows he's lost!

Still, it's good to read that their sales are improving and they have a positive outlook. It's just a pity that most of their stuff is about 100% out of scale...  :D

Margate was the traditional home of Tri-ang Trains which is probably a more significant part of the current Hornby Hobbies than the Hornby of Hornby-Dublo and Dinky Toys fame. The Hornby-Dublo trains went to Wrenn initially from Liverpool. The Dinky Toys brand is I think owned by Mattel of HotWheels and Matchbox fame, which was originally Lesney. Don't look too closely if you are shocked by corporate incest!

Maybe they need the extra space to expand their interests in the growth market represented by other scales?

Extra space ?  I doubt that, seeing as the old site was a manufacturing base !

An HQ site never gives more space ... except to top mgmt. ;)

having been there the site was old looking and worn out  and the new site that is at sandwich will be a great move into more modern looking building also with much more development at the westwood cross shopping centre traffic in that area can be a nightmare
