Can anyone fix brass locos?
« on: December 18, 2014, 06:18:10 PM »
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for someone to have a look at a few brass locos that need some TLC/ possibly repairing.
Does anyone on here have anyone to suggest? Or possibly volunteer themselves?
 :thankyousign:
Sophie

Thanks for replying Steve. There's a 'overland' shay that needs some attention, a 'key imports' FEF and a 'oriental imports' Q1.
I would of course pay you for your time. Or could maybe help with anything you might be looking for. I've got a very wide array of USA stock at the moment  :)

Do you know what seems to be the problem with them? I haven't got bucket loads of experience with that sort of thing unfortunately

To be honest I'm pretty clueless.
Usually if a loco doesn't run I just stick a label on it saying "spares or repair", I never investigate. If I stripped a loco down, it would be a miracle if I could get it put back together, let alone spot the fault.
But as these are pretty expensive brass locos I thought it may be worth while to get someone to have a look at them.
It could be a pretty simple fix for all I know. But im just after someone to have a quick look at them, and if they can fix them or tell me the problem that would be great. And if they can't find the problem, I will just move them on as non runners

If thats the case, I am more than happy to 'open up the hood' and have a look, I am pretty pactical so should be able to apply some knowledge somewhere!
If you want to post them over I will see what I can do?
