1/148 vehicles by RailNscale
« on: November 10, 2014, 11:03:23 AM »
Hello,

there is a small supplier from the Netherlands, that offer some 3D printed cars for british N scale.
At the moment, it is a Ford Transit (van and bus), Citroen 2CV and a Mercedes 123.
He also offers a telephone Kiosk, letterboxes and a police box (Tardis)
Today I received my ordered 2CV and Ford transit set (one bus, one van)

Here are the Ford Transits in comparisson to a R Parker Ford Transit

Here are the link to the manufacruter

http://railnscale.com/

And the shapeways shop

http://www.shapeways.com/shops/rail-n-scale?section=1%3A148&s=0#more-products

Maybe, if there is enough interest he will also offering a Renault R5 in 1/148.

This is a good initiative Markus. Scaling from 1/160 to 1/148 is more practical than going the other way, where wall thicknesses might be an issue if the 1/148 drawings are to minimum wall thickness.

Will be interested to see how much surface preparation is needed prior to painting.

How is the finish ? It looks a bit "stippled" in the photos on their web site ?

Best regards,

Joe

Looking at the pictures again I can see that the models have been converted to right hand drive as well as scaling up to 1/148.

Here a picture of the primed RailNscale cars.

In the middle is a R Parker Ford Transit for comparison.

Must admit the RailNscale vehicles look much more sharply detailed compared to the Parker one, thanks for posting.

They are pretty good, a couple of Dabs of Micro Kristal Klear would finish them off...

Not so sure about the 2CV, not sure why just something looks off, as well as the large gap over the wheel arches, but the transits look really good! I think I will have to acquire some of these.

Best wishes and thanks for posting.

Just been looking at his site, lets hope he converts a few more models to our scale -
great looking Renault 5 and the Peugeot 504 especially!

Best wishes
Simon

Hello,

yesterday RailNscale announced that they offer a Range Rover in civil and Police versions and a Vauxhall Cavllier at
their british N gauge range.

As there was an offer for free shipping I decided to take advantage of the RailNscale 1970s pack; a 3-door Range Rover, Vauxhall Cavalier, Renault 5 and Ford Transit plus a 'free' red telephone box.  These have arrived but because delivery is via UPS, which comes when I'm at work, I have to pick up the parcel from a local shop.

I'll take some photos once I've got my hands on the models.  It looks like a good choice of vehicles as they all had fairly long production lives.

One day I'll ask if the BMW 328 roadster and maybe some of the other 1:160 cars can be produced in 1:148 British N.

Hi all,

Those Transits look really good and perfect for 1:148 scale Sweeney villains.

Markus - what brand did you paint them with?

cheers

Ben A.
