OK, I'm officially an addict

I've only been at this for about three months and I've just noticed I have over 20 motive power units, and just caught myself spending 1500 yen (less than 9 quid) on a junk loco with the intent of stripping it down for experimental purposes.

But just think what else you might have spent your money on.

For the price of one of those locos you could have had one of the following -

A couple of tankfuls of petrol
A week's shopping at Tesco
A few hours in a gym
A filling at the dentist
One car tyre
A couple of tickets to watch your football team lose.

Now which will give you the greatest pleasure for the longest period of time? No contest really, is it? The only thing that comes close is to buy a dog from a rescue centre, but they cost more to run!

You can justify almost anything with a bit of sideways thinking

Oh, I'm not trying to justify anything  Though I did used to own a couple of rescue cats. Anyway spread over the quarter-century I've been "away" from this hobby, it's less than one loco a year. 

Anyway, after a coffee and a spell of real work I wandered over to the model shop (there's one which is part of a big electronics store which is open until 10pm each day) and acquired an engine shed kit, some glue, some files (the tool variety, have a dummy HST power car which needs some attention), some blu-tack (never seen it in Japan before, always useful to have around), and a magazine with instructions on how to pimp the primitive Kato Kokuden sets which were my first acquisitions).

I thought I was bad, having bought my first loco in mid September. Not even two months later and I have 8.

From experience: growth is exponential.

The Wife always tells me that I am addicted to trains, I just laugh and tell her that she used to say that I was an addicted to something else that I cant mention here when I was younger, I think she is addicted to telling me I am an addict but I don't care
