I think dapol may have dcc sound in there heads next depending on how the dcc fitted loco's sell :)

That would be brilliant, save me a lot of work  :)

Made me laugh when the catalogue mentions the western being built for the West coast mainline!
Seems its not just us modellers that reinvent history!  :smiley-laughing:

Actually it implies that the Warships and Hymeks were working on the WCML. While the Westerns were a more powerful development of the Warship concept, they were not an alternative to the Hymeks which were designed as Type 3s from the outset. In WR steam terms Warships were akin to Castles and Westerns to Kings while the Hymek were Halls.
Of course, when new, the Westerns did work to Birmingham - but via Banbury!

Looks good but surprised they not gone for one of the preserved members as i think they may be better sellers for those wanting a preserved example as i am sure not all of us are modelling the hydraulic era?

I also have DVD's showing Westerns and Warships working into Crewe from Wales

Any idea if these are still coming? They seem to have fallen off the map along with the pacer.
Grumble.

Yes, they are definitely on the way. EP samples were shown last year (might have been TINGS or the NGS show). As far as I know they were sheduled for early spring but have slipped a month or two.

Last I heard was that the class 22s had just left China on a boat (4-6 week journey time) and the 52s were going to be a month or so behind them.

With luck we should have them by the start of the summer.
Well, that's just not good enough. Some fount of all knowledge you are!   ;)

Dave did say the EPs had a fault at the base of the body - I can't remember whether this was at TINGs or Warley.  That needed to be sorted out and may be a reason why it is a little slower.

All the very best
Les

Hi,
I've not seen mention elsewhere on this forum, painted samples were on show at Ally Pally last weekend so a couple of links to photo's posted on RMweb a few days ago might be allowable  :confused2:

Tantalising glimpse of the 22s behind, and the Colas 56  ;)

Painted samples of the class 52 and 22 were on display at TINGS in September last year.
The 00 version of the Western has only just come up for reviews so who knows when the N version will be with us. Last I heard the class 22 should be here April (2013 I hasten to add)

Hi,
Painted samples of the class 52 and 22 were on display at TINGS in September last year.

As a comparison here's a good photo of the basic engineering prototype at TINGS:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v186/TomEveritt/IMG_1654b.jpg
There was some progress by Warley, but with Dave Jones continued seeking of livery refinements afterwards could hardly be considered anywhere near as 'finished' as the Ally Pally samples I linked to.
My asides about the Class 22s and 56 must have confused a little, as you say Class 22 painted samples certainly were shown at TINGS, I was to see them for myself at the Warley show.

Flicking through the June issue of British Railway Modeling in my iPad this evening, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Dapol ad on the last page proudly announcing that the N gauge Westerns are going to be released in May :claphappy:

D1005 Western Venturer in BR Blue
D1029 Western Legionnaire in Maroon small yellow panels
D1038 Western Sovereign in Green small yellow panels
D1056 Western Venturer in Maroon full yellow ends

Clearly a poor piece of proof reading from the Dapol folks on D1056 as this should be Western Sultan :hmmm:

Then I recalled that the same ads had the Class 22 in BR Blue arriving in March and then the green ones in April and they haven't seen the light of day yet ???

But progress of sorts I guess and who knows, maybe May means May this time!!

IIRC review samples have arrived to some people so they can't be far away now.

Cheers, Mike
