Our poll had the Pendolino and Brighton Belle at the top of the EMU section. The BB is in production and the Pendolino may well be soon (via the project)
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

Time for another NGF wishlist poll then ?  :D

I don't think so. We currently have 3710 members and the 2012 poll attracted 148 voters while the 2013 poll received less - just 109 voters.
Even taking into account those who don't/won't model UK outline the interest just isn't there :hmmm:

Carflats were in the BR wagons section - these were the conversions from pre-nationalisation carriage underframes, not the 'Cartic' purpose-built multi-level articulated wagon sets.

Just a few days left to vote.

If you're a Night Ferry fan as I am, please vote in category 13 for "Wagons Lits – CIWL Night Ferry Stock (inc. Guard's Vans & Fourgons)", as well as 4-4-0 SR L1 in category 2 and class 71 in category 6.

A question: was the BR Mk1 'Boat Second'  also allocated to the Night Ferry service ?

I've also voted for some London underground stuff: 1938 stock, 1956/59/62 stock, and 1973 stock in category 21. I may appreciate them because I never had to take them every day. :D  I must confess that I wouldn't buy some Paris suburban train in N gauge; it is so horrible to take them every day.  :censored:

This poll was also a great opportunity for me to discover very nice British pieces. Sometimes even surprising ones such as this GT3 gas turbine locomotive: http://www.enuii.org/vulcan_foundry/oddities/gt3.htm.

That's shocking :o, less than 3% of members bothered to vote. I would have thought that many more would like to vote up their preferences and express support for manufacturers.

I'f I was an N gauge manufacturer, thinking that the NGF is a hotbed of interest in N gauge, I'd come to the conclusion that most (97%) modellers don't give a damn about what I produce.

We keep being told that N gauge is a tiny market, and although there seem to be some encouraging growth signs that doesn't seem to be reflected by the vote here. Come on folks, get involved and help shape your hobby!

Even if a new poll would just be for fun and only a fraction of the members replied, it could still make interesting reading.... So what if our previous polls are not a patch the RM one, we are a totally independent forum dedicated to N gauge, not jack of all gauge's like RM. :P

If the manufactures really wanted our input I'm sure they'd make it known via Facebook etc and even via the forum.... Polls are only really intended to show current trends - there's no guarantee that a top listed model will ever be produced.

Even though the enthusiasm for voting in our polls was underwhelming, some of the results in the 2012 poll are, shall we say, spooky :uneasy:
In our top 10 steam locos were:-
Schools (Dapol?)
Retooled Castle (Farish)
N class 2-6-0 (Farish)

and in the top 10 diesels in the 2012 poll were:-
Class 25 retooled (Farish)
Class 33 retooled (Dapol?)
Class 50 retooled (Dapol?)
Class 22 (Dapol)
Class 31 retooled (Farish)
Class 59 (Dapol?/DJ Models?)
Class 17(DJ Models)
Class 23 (DJ Models)

All results were sent to Farish & Dapol at the time. You can judge for yourself how many 'hits' we got, although with the lead time to locos appearing I'm sure this wasn't down to the manufacturers listening to us (although it may appear that way and could possibly be true), but more down to them being on pretty much the same wavelength regarding what the market desires :-\
Certainly it looks as if Dave Jones may have taken the results on board looking at what DJ Models have in the pipeline.

Farish did the original Class 33 - Dapol are doing an all-new one...

Yup - I have the old 33 and the new one on pre order.
The question marks are purely because some items have been announced but seem a long time in coming through whereas the 25 and 22 are already with us. If the others match the quality of these 2 we should be happy bunnies :)

Not being a member of other model rail forums, therefore not seeing their wish list polls, I would say there is need in N Gauge for a re-tooled class 90, a class 92 (full stop) and a nice futuristic class 68!
Of course iam quite biased to that era! :smiley-laughing:

You don't need to be a member to vote on the poll on RMWeb as it is run by an outside group with help from them.

Get yourself over ther and vote on it! :)

I believe it is being run by Brian macdermott and is in conjunction with MREMAG. The poll is just being hosted on the RMWeb site.

Well, it looks like I'm probably safe from anyone releasing a GWR small metro before I finish mine, even at the pace I'm going at  ;D
