yeh, it's easy to become a collector rather than actually building the layout!!!

once i've built the layout i can hopefully start saving money to buy more locos and rolling stock... and then just enjoy running them, detailing etc etc

Dribble, drool, slobber

Edit - 16.11.11 - today I phoned Rails to see when they would be getting their 121's and was told 'next week'. Problem is I am buying with birthday vouchers so have to wait. Mind you, my wallet's been hammered a bit this week with my class 26 turning up and purchasing an A.C.E. set from Spurno so a breather won't do it any harm

At 40 a pop I'd have thought that would be the dummy ones?

But seeing as i work at rails the hattons price of 40 + 4 p+p is more than i could have got one for. And seen as i'm not desperate for one i'll leave it for the time being :)

That's not what your boss told me on the phone.  He said you just turn up and stare at the carriages on the shelves! :smiley-laughing:

Sorry, Roy. I was just following on from Ollie's comment about wanting the dummy. I also forgot Ollie works at Rails. Doh ::)

have we got a tally going yet? i think we spend more time in the shop not working than working :P

back to thread, the 121s really do look amazing, and unlike most other dapol locos, the ones i test ran were incredibly quiet. also nice to see lights on dummy vehicles.

I just received my 121s that Hattons entrusted to the good old PO 5 weeks ago. >:(  Who knows where they have been stuck...

I got a powered 55024 and a dummy 55029 both in BR Blue.

The detailing is fantastic. :o   I don't think I will be weathering these! :P

The powered unit runs really smoothly.  It runs fast, and the speed setting needs to be low but it will run very slowly too.  It is quite noisy, but hopefully running it will quieten it down a bit.

The only negative is the chrome window frames on the cab ends.  Not sure where they found this prototype, as I am sure I don't remeber seeing them with chrome windows.  Of course, that is a minor niggle as I can always paint them yellow.

They really do push the bar higher in terms of quality and detailing.

I am now about to brave the buffer beam details... tweezers in one hand catchers mit on the other!!!  :smiley-laughing:
