Topics evolve, but I take your point and will make amends by bringing it back.  I also read magazines about, and on-line reviews of model aircraft, both the flying and plastic variety.  I wonder how many railway modellers are also interested in model aircraft, boats and cars.  Both literature and retailing treat them as pretty much separate hobbies.

I have a shed load of railway books, mostly GCR, LNER, BR or local area related. Fiction wise, I'm a massive science fiction and fantasy fiction fan, with the complete works of Raymond E Feist(met him 3 times and have 6 signed first editions as well as a signed clothbound Magician), I also read Patricia Kennealy's 'Keltiad', Robin Hobb, George RR Martin, JRR Tolkien, Arthur C Clarke and Asimov. At the moment I'm well into some modern science fiction stuff, Jack Campbell's 'Lost Fleet' books, James SA Corey's 'The Expanse' books and the Warhammer 40K books. Also well worth a read are David Feintuch's 'Hope' series and either the 'Death Gate Cycle' or 'Dragonlance Chronicles/Legends' by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman
