Nice one Steve, love the light strips, really good that your son has shown some interest, let's hope it continues to grow although it could cost you money if he wants his own layout.

Thanks!
Hes already told me he wants bridges and houses on the test track. I think i'll furnish that one with kestrel and peco products. Faster and simpler than scalescenes... but thats for another thread when i start it!
I just need to persuade the wife he wants some DMUs for his birthday now...

Here we go, Having been up pre 6am with number 2 son I decided it would be time to get the box out and clean and check the track now all is set. A few problems with the points initially but pleased to report that all went well. I'm on holiday tomorrow for a week down on the (hopefully) sunny English Riviera so this will be the last update for a week or so. On my return the next job will be to weather the track and then bed the structures in (including the platform surfaces).

Here are some pictures for your perusal

Hi Steve,

this looks really nice. Good job on the weathering.
I really like your concept. The APA box seemst to be well suited for urban scenes. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't allow me one. She always says I have to finish the layouts I have already started before I can think about starting a new one :'( I guess she's right.
But then again, Apa Park does look nice... :uneasy:

Have a good time at the English Riviera.

All the best,
Michael

A week in the west country was nice but now back to business. I have decided to try and get the layout finished for the NGS AGM on June 7th so I can enter the layout competition... no pressure! I will see how far I get by deadline day and make a decision about entering or not! Our holiday yielded a few goodies, a NR van and a bargain of a 156 DMU. I paid a visit to the excellent Paignton Model shop and I aquired chips for the DMU. I have decided to run a stub road down the front of the layout. This will be seperated from the yard by some pallisade fencing. I have also finished the platform surfaces using scalescenes roads which I think looks good...
Still need to weather the track and plant the buildings...
Comments as usual are more than welcome!

The lines are pre printed on the scalescenes road sections. I just cut and shut them. Funny you should say that about the car park. U was thinking the same as I was building it. The space sit a standard n gauge car though... wierd!

Brilliant idea using the trunking for the fiddleyard cassettes. One I may well 'borrow'
My layout Much Puffindun can be seen at http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=17426.msg173415#msg173415

this is awesome,

i may have to try something APA as a scenery test bed for the main layout with the advantage it can store stuff and be out of the loft, maybe build a rolling road into a wheel lathe building for running in and maintenance

all i need to do is to pluck up courage to get into IKEA Wembley :)

and those cassettes are sublime
I just think people overvalue argument because they like to hear themselves talk.
