Where can I source a saluting patrolman to go with it??  Plus doesn't the equal opportunities commission demand an RAC version. They were more streamlined I seem to recall.

::) Jerry

How about a repainted train guard with flag removed and perhaps a little tweak to the arm.
As a person who broke his wrist 4 years ago and it still ain't right I object to the tweaking of the arm.

A repaint wouldn't do me any harm, though.  ;D

In George's case the AA would stand for Antipodean Alcohol, though :-X

The 16  newly  announced models are listed at the bottom of this page. Includes army vehicles and a motor cycle combination

http://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/eras/1_148_0__Current.htm

The 8 new castings are:-

AEC Matador, Motorcycle and sidecar, Land Rover LWB, Foden 8 wheeler dropside with chains, Foden 8 wheel oval tanker , Scania fire engine, Austin Tilly pickup, Hotdog trailer.

A couple of questions
1 The aec matador is stated to be Royal Artillery but has the american star, is this right?
2 The BOAC bus is nice, but when I was little I had a Dinky Toys bus in BOAC colours but it had a fin a bit like an aircraft wouldn't this type have been better. Either would probably be wrong for Derbyshire but I might apply rule 1

On the subject of a saluting patrolman, perhaps an upper body transplant from a 1/148 soldier?

I think the white star was used as an identification sign in Europe after  DDay, like
the invasion stripes on planes.  I'd ask my dad who was a gunner in the RA , but he's
gone to the big firing range in the sky. I don't think it was used in N africa or Italy.

Perhaps he worked with my Dad he was a range finder for the gunners in N Africa & Italy.

Back to the point the white star was the allied markings for and after D Day.
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

My dad was in the 64th antitank regiment (Glasgow Yeomanry) part of 78th Div.
Believe it or not when he was given a week's leave in Italy in 1944 he and his pal
went to stay in an Italian boarding house in a seaside resort.

An even stranger event was when his column entered a town which unknown to them
was still occupied by some Germans and a battle broke out in the mainstreet.
During the fighting a woman came out of a house and asked one of the soldiers how
things were doing in Glasgow. It turned out she had left Glasgow prewar to marry
an Italian and got marooned during the war and heard the accents  of the soldiers.

I digress , back to Oxford Diecast!

The Dinky BOAC coach was a Harrington Contender which was not popular with many operators. The Oxford coach is a Commer Commando used by the armed forces and airlines. This has more potential for multiple liveries than the Dinky version.

The Dinky one did not have a fin, nor did the plain liveried Maudslay observation coach as far as I can see. There was a Commer coach with a "dorsal fin" but that was not a Dinky, and as far as I remember came only in plain liveries. Oxford have hinted at producing a Leyland Royal Tiger coach seen  in the Derbyshire area.
