Re the Peco PL 11 point motors have a look at my thread here, it may help you http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=7196.msg81839#msg81839
:welcomesign:

I have taken your advice and shortened the spacing pieces on the PL-11 (just done one to begin with), but to help with correct positioning  I also used one of the base pieces meant for 00 track as it just fits nicely between 2 sleepers on my N gauge point- see attached pic. Seems to have done the job as the motor now both pushes & pulls. Thanks for the Link, hope my photo is clear enough. The label on the point is just temporary to identify it, and you will notice I have raised the point using some cardboard so that the motor locating hole fits better (as recommended by Peco).
Also below that I have posted 3 pictures of my existing Layout as Snapshots produced using AnyRail, Focus, and Scarm model railway design software.

Update:
Having trimmed 2mm off the point motor spacers as per Whiteswans suggestion, and incorporated my own extra little mod mentioned in my previous post, I have now refitted 2 of the point motors onto my layout and they now operate their respective points fine.
Only 8 more point motors to reattach now that I have trimmed them all. If they all work as per the 1st two then I shall be happy and can get on with completing my modifications.
The Trastero (Store room) I rent is only small so I cannot increase the size of my layout, only try to make it is interesting as possible. Most of my rolling stock comes from Hattons in Liverpool & takes about 10 days to get to Tenerife.
My engines are mainly Graham Farish, with the odd Dapol one thrown in. Have experienced users on here of these two model ranges any preference may I ask - i.e. does one perform better than the other in the longer term?
Regards
Terry

With regards my previous post - I have just noticed another thread on here about the merits of graham farish as apposed to Dapol engines. I shall read that to answer my question.

Progress.
Have now refitted more than half of my PL-11 point motors with shortened spacers,
and tested them on the track, and so far they all work - so thanks once again to whiteswan
for the tip. It is the wiring that is taking the time as I have to extend the wires of each point motor to reach the PL-26 switches I am using, and space is restricted and difficult to access.
Have also emailed Peco about the need for modification on the Pl-11s for N gauge, but have not yet had a reply.

Moved from Euxton, Chorley to Runcorn in 1979
Strange that in my 1st post on here I should receive answers from someone who knows Chorley, and someone else who lives near Chester. Wonder if I will get a reply from someone in Chelmsford?

Welcome aboard Terry.....
Where about in Runcorn did you live.......?

Lived in Runcorn from 1979 until 1986 - the address being 20 Wharefedale, Palacefields not far from the Shopping City. It was our 1st "brand new" house on a then new Housing Estate, and next door to the Park and Runcorn Squash Club where we went swimming every Sunday. I was then working as Computer Manager for Halton Borough Council., and my wife helped run nearby Murdishaw Play Centre. Had some really good neighbours on our Estate as everyone was new to the place and I remember it was whilst living there that Charles married Diana and we had a great Street Party that went on for days.
