“Hello, I’m Sylvia Trevelver and these are my friends,” she announced. “Why are you keeping them from leaving?”

The slightly less well-built doorman slowly produced a folded piece of paper from a trouser pocket and holding it up, carefully read it to himself before answering.

“Yes, it says ‘ere, Miss Sylvia Trevelver, along with Miss Belinda Anderson, Miss Jenny Davies, Miss Angela Evans, Miss Monique Gournay, Miss Elayne Guillou,” he struggled with the Breton surname, “Miss Amanda Morgan, and Miss Susan Williams, I have orders from my bosses not to let you leave this club.” He looked around, “and that goes an’ all for a Captain Jeremy Corentyn Cador and a Mr. Giles Roskrow. Are you two gents ‘ere, too? The rest of yew, can scarper!”

“No, Jeremy and Giles are still inside,” responded Sylvia, firmly.

“We aren’t leaving without our friends,” proclaimed Sofi defiantly.

“No, we’re most certainly not!” added Fermin. “Sit down strike, everyone!”

As one they all sat on the floor, linked arms, completely blocking the entrance, and led by Fermin’s strong baritone, began singing “We Shall Not Be Moved!” with great gusto. Right at the back, Phil and Andy sat on either side of Richard looking alert and ready for action whilst a stone-faced Sylvia sat in the centre of the front row with Eli linked to her right and Angela to her left.

“Blimey!” exclaimed the bigger of the doormen, “What the ‘ell do we do now with this lot? The bosses have ordered us never to lay as much as a finger on women!”

Back inside the club, “Giles, Eddie, Georgie and his heavies have entered the discothèque,” whispered Jeremy over their earbuds. “But, wait, something’s happening on the dancefloor!”

“What’s happening on the dancefloor?” exclaimed Giles.

“It looks like there’s a vicious fight about to break out,” replied Jeremy. “There’s a group of slick young men out on the floor, you know those ones wearing Italian ‘bum-freezer’ suits with very slim cuffless trousers, winkle-picker shoes and very thin ties. They’ve all suddenly produced wicked looking flick knives and are circling that slightly smaller group of villains in mohair suits, one of whom has grabbed one of the young men’s young women, a beautiful tall blonde with a bouffant hairdo and a polka dot dress in the latest style. The blonde’s screaming to be let go but the hard men are surrounding her and have their fists up. They clearly don’t want to get too near those blades though!”

“What are the Twins and their thugs doing, Jeremy?”

“They’ve stopped on the edge of the dance floor, Giles, and the Twins have got their heads together. The young men have formed an outer circle with half facing them on one side and half the mohair suited gang on the other. Those young guys move as one and at lightning speed! They’ve got their other young women safely inside their circle.”
Sophie and Susan were listening with Giles as they stood apart from Poldory and the young girl huddled behind them the kitchen’s washing-up area.

“Thanks, Jeremy. Keep us updated. Right, Sophie and Susan, the Twins and their thugs have now got other matters on their mind and we’ve seen that Christian’s just left the room with the Russians, so get yourselves ready. As soon as Christian’s out of sight, it’s time for you two to make your move.”

“Understood, Giles,” replied Sophie. “But, first, I really need to have a word with Christian. The Admiral’s orders! Sorry!”

“Okay, but hurry back, here, Sophie. You’re needed to protect Susan and she must go very soon if the Admiral’s plan’s to work!”

“Understood, Giles. I will do what is ordered and at every command, I will be ready!” replied Sophie before hurrying after Christian.

As soon as Sophie left the kitchen to turn right, before anyone could stop her, Susan hurried after her but, turning left, ran instead towards the meeting room.

“Stop her!” cried Giles. “She can’t go in there, alone, without Sophie!”

Is Susan going to jeopordise everything?

Kenneth Williams used to say, in his funny voice "Oh, get on with it - stop hanging it out!"  But we do need to know all the details.

“Stop, Christian!” called Sophie. He turned and waited in the corridor.

“Did you get them?” She asked pointing at the attaché case in his hands.

“Yes, I did.”

“And they believed you?”

“Of course. I gave them what they were expecting. Now, if you don’t mind, I need to rejoin the others. Catala will be wondering where I’ve gone.”

“You haven’t told her, have you, Christian?”

“No, and I can’t. You know that! Now, I really must be going. Is the rear exit still clear for you all?”

“Yes, as far as we know.”

“Good. I’m going to fix the door onto the dance floor behind me, then. No-one will be able to get through that way!”

“Okay, Christian. I must return to the others in the kitchen!”

Susan approached the door where the three Russians were finishing their meal, knocked and, without waiting for an answer, entered and closed the door behind her.

“Sofi! Quickly, we’ve got to go after Susan!” called Giles.

“What!” cried Sofi as she rushed back up the corridor to where Giles was pacing just outside the kitchen door. “You know the plan, only another woman can accompany Susan. Your job is to stay here with those other two and wait for Susan and me to return. Then we get out of here as quickly as possible!”

“I know, but Susan was going to, first, put, what did she call it, Sofi?”

“A ‘glamour’ on us,” replied Sofi as she stopped by him. “Susan and I’ll both appear absolutely irresistible. The two most stunning women they have ever seen!”

“Yes, yes, I know; you’ll each appear to be each of those three Russians most ideal, totally bewitching female. Now, go after her! You know what the Admiral said, Sofi!”

Sofi ran off. “It’s no good, Giles,” she called back down the corridor. I’ve tried the handle. The door’s firmly locked, from the inside! Come, you try! You’ve got your skeleton keys on you, haven’t you?”

Chris, although based in Prague, has 99% of his writing done in China so unfortunately you'll all have to wait ages for the finished product  :D.

Sorry Chris (IP), just a little N gauge joke  ;).

Great stuff and like others looking forward to more.

Cheers, Chris (weave)  :beers:

“Right, lads,” ordered Georgie. “Get this lot sorted and then we’ll go to the entrance and sort that other lot out!”

“Our guests are getting’ impatient,” added Eddie. “An’ that ain’t good for our ‘ealth!”

“Right, bosses. We’ll get stuck in!” Smiled the leader of the thugs producing a heavy leather cosh from inside his suit jacket.

“Jeremy, we’ve got a problem,” came over the group’s earbuds.

“What’s that, Giles?”

“We’ve lost, Susan, Jeremy.”

“What do you mean, lost?”

“She’s given us the slip and locked herself … in with those Russians and neither Sophie nor I can get in!”

“The Admiral’s going to be furious, Giles!”

“Yes, I know, Jeremy. How’s things with Rule and you?”

“Fine. We’re being ignored, for now. All the attention is on the dancefloor. The Twins have just sent their heavies in to break up that nasty confrontation. Nothing’s happened, yet, though. They’re eyeing each other up to see who’ll make the first move.”

“Well, that’s something, at least. Have you seen Christian?”

“Yes, he passed us, without a glance, just a few minutes ago, heading for the casino, Giles.”

“He’s on his way to join the others, Sophie said. Still no sign of Snapper?”

“No, Rule’s worried but trying to hide it. What will Sophie and you do, Giles?”

“What can we do, Jeremy? Nothing, for now! Susan’s up to something; we’ve no idea what though! Sophie and I’ll just have to wait outside the room, ready for whatever happens and hope that nothing happens to her! This is most unlike her!”

“Right, Poldory,” announced Giles. “Now, listen very carefully! You take young Miss Salcombe and hide as close as possible to the rear entrance. Sophie and I are just going down the corridor but, when we return with our friend, Susan, we’re going to be running as fast as we possibly can for that very same exit. When you hear running coming towards you, listen for us to shout the password, Unicorn, three times, then when you see us, you run with us. Got that, Poldory, Miss Salcombe?” They both nodded, vigorously. “You’ve got that empty bottle, Poldory, haven’t you? The one that contained that poison and you know to hold it in your gloved hand and not let it come into contact with your or anyone else’s body. Right?” Poldory nodded, once more. “The police need it as vital evidence to support your stories. Understood?” They both nodded, again. The young woman’s face was pale and drawn.

“So, off you two go, carefully. Normal walking pace, keeping your ears open! There’s no-one who can get into the corridors from the front. The entrances are all sealed. So, no need to worry about someone coming up behind you!”

Poldory, holding Sally’s small hand firmly in his much larger one, set off, after carefully looking to his right then his left and then right, again.

“Right,” called Giles. “I’m coming, Sophie; we’ll try my skeleton keys. Hear anything?”

“Not a sound, Giles.”

“Damn her! This is really serious,” cried Giles as he stood by Sophie outside the door fumbling inside a hidden inside jacket pocket to withdraw a set of skeleton keys. “Right, let’s try them all, one by one! Take your loaded gun out and keep it pointed at the door and your finger on the trigger in case anyone hears me at work and suddenly opens it!”

“I will do what is ordered and at every command, I will be ready!”

“Where’ve you been, Christian?” asked Catala. “I’ve been really worried about you. And who’s this … on your arm?”

“You’ll never believe it, Catala. I got locked in the lavatory and had to wait until this young lady – what’s your name, again? – heard my calls and came and opened the stall door from the outside. The lock broke inside when I closed it, you see.”

Catala laughed and smiled indulgently at Christian while carefully appraising his rescuer towering over her on an incredibly high pair of silver stilettos.

“My name is Annabel,” replied the young woman in a matter-of-fact tone, still clutching Christian’s arm.

Annabel was, Catala saw, a very tall and statuesque young woman with short jet-black hair wearing an ultrashort skin-tight silver dress with a plunging neckline. Her face was a little too round, her nose and ears a little too large, her blue eyes too pale and her lipstick far too bright a red, Catala judged. In short, Catala congratulated herself, Annabel was no challenge to someone of her perfect beauty, makeup, and dress sense.

“Come and sit down by my side and join in, Christian.” Catala smiled, again. “Annabel, I suggest you stand somewhere at the back, you can’t possibly sit down in that dress.”

“Thank you, Annabel,” smiled Christian before turning away from her. “What’s happening, Catala?”

“We’re having a sit-in, my dear, led by Fermin Muguruza!”

“Really, darling, and what is it about?”

“These two,” Catala pointed at the bemused doormen, “won’t let us go; something about not being able to prove that Sylvia’s paid the bill for all of us.”

“It’s nonsense, of course,” stated Sylvia. They already have a confirmed cheque which more than covers tonight. In fact, I’m expecting a cheque, in the post, next week, from THEM, refunding the excess paid! I wish Jeremy were here with us.”

Christian was remembering his training. ‘While she’s talking, start looking at her left eye only. Then, shift your gaze to her right eye. Then, look down at her mouth. Then, back up to her left eye… and repeat. Left eye, right eye, mouth… forming a triangle. This is body language for “I want to kiss you”. You’ll notice it’s working’, their smartly dressed female trainer had told them, ‘when she starts doing the same thing back to you, especially looking at your mouth. That means she’s definitely thinking about kissing you, too. Even better, when you use this “triangulation” technique, she may get so ‘hot and bothered’ she leans in and kisses you FIRST.’ Sure enough, Catala did just that. He smiled to himself. The trainer had smiled, too, her dark brown eyes twinkling behind her gold-rimmed glasses. ‘Women do have quite an arsenal of subtle signals they give off when they’re interested in a man. Most males, however, don’t pick up on these “microscopic” cues.’

“What’re you smiling about, Christian?” Catala asked, staring into his eyes and tossing her hair away from her face as she moved her face apart from his.

“Oh, nothing, Catala. I missed you, too! How much longer will we be kept here, I wonder.”

“I’ve no idea but I’m already getting bored, darling. Can’t you make them let us go, now?”
