QuoteNewportNobby is in my view the very model of the perfect Moderator so long may he continue in his present style and volume.

Couldn't agree more... Having had the pleasure of meeting Mick at TINGS this year, I can happily say we're in good hands...

All Hail newportnobby !  :admiration: :admiration: :admiration:
If it's got rails... you have my full, undivided attention - Steam, diesel and electric, 'tis all good !

Well done.
I'm still not at 1000 yet !
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

:beers: I'll drink to that......or to anything for that matter.

A lot of time and energy goes into his work on the forum so good on you Mick.
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

Whilst I thank everyone for their kind words, it has to be remembered that I am but one of a great team of guys and gals selected by Tank to maintain the family ethos and standards on the forum. Luckily we don’t have many issues to sort out due to the membership behaving themselves – well, most of the time anyway ;)
It is a truism that you get out what you put in and I am very lucky in that my personal circumstances allow me to frequent the forum so often (for that, probably read I need to get a life :-[). In my time on the forum I have learned much and probably forgotten most of it but at least I have plenty to refer back to. Not just that, but I consider myself very fortunate to have met many of our members in person at various related public events such as Toy Fairs, Exhibitions, Meet Ups etc, such that I have been coined “The Forum Pimp” (thanks, Cloughie ::)).
Since moving from the Midlands to the North West I have made friends from the forum in the area and we meet fairly regularly at events – DavieB, Dock Shunter, Upnick and Cloughie to name a few. I was also fortunate to meet up with Bealman and his lovely wife, Anne, on his epic tour and Jerry Howlett while he was over from Italy.
As far as my layout, Kimbolted, goes – well, it looks like I have made the mistake (again) of creating a behemoth to fit the space available with the inevitable result it has become too daunting and with access only by ducking under to the operating well, a gammy hip is making that a real pain, literally, to get to. I am perfectly happy with the track plan as it gives me everything I wanted but early 2014 will see this 4 sided layout condensed to an 8ft x 4ft area with operation from one of the sides – not decided which yet. It will allow me easier access, no lift out section, and the ability to create more of a scenic layout. As things are I have too many lines running right next to the backscene thus making it almost impossible to create any sort of reality
Still with me? Not fallen asleep yet?
The upshot of all this is that I will be attacking the modelling with greater enthusiasm and, what’s more, posting less – huzzah I hear you shout – Result :claphappy:. Watch out also for items coming up for sale if you are modelling late steam/early diesel.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone. May your pressies be all you hope for.

Thats impressive a tally and whats more the counter is still notching up more post's! Something I would like to ask though, how many keyboards would you estimate got thrown in the trash to acquire that count?  :hmmm:

I would be amazed if it's still the original one and if any of the keys still have their markings one them!  :)

Still the same keyboard, although the battery in my laptop has given up the ghost this week.

I Googled Newportnobby the other night and saw the great layout of track on the dining table and thought  'wow that's some task he set himself'
