My mother collects Lilliput Lane so just browsing re a potential Christmas present and came across this :

I've never seen them before but maybe I've had my head in the sand !
Has Anyone utilised any of these on layouts and if so....what are they like scale wise ?

My other half bought me the row of cottages to see how they'd work.

Scale wise they're pretty good. Nicely made and had fun painting the windows!

I think they may be just a little 'twee/cute' for me as most of the buildings all have slightly rickety roof lines as suggested by the pics on their website. Couldn't say about the more modern buildings though.

I'd go for maybe one or two tucked into corners but I wouldn't do a whole village scene with them.

I saw an advert for these in the latest Hornby magazine and curious to know how many forum members had bought them and what their thoughts were about them.

I was in the UK in September but didn't see any at TINGS, I could have missed them. Has anyone got pictures of them on a layout?

It appears that the entire 'Full steam ahead' range is designed for N gauge railways/scenes.

AFAIK the main problem with them is that they are solid models so no chance of internal detail or lighting.

Even if hollow you would have the problem of light showing through the walls

They're solid. I did wonder about drilling out the windows but decided it wouldn't really be worth the effort.

As mentioned a while back, the scale is pretty good but the roof tiles are a little too rickety/twee for my taste although one or two tucked in among the trees might work.

I considered their secondary school building for my Fisherlea layout but soon realised modelling a complete school complex, including canteen and PE facilities. would have taken up a lot of room.
