Whisper it not so quietly, but S&D loco decals are on their way from Railtec. This includes tender and buffer beam lettering and cabside numbers (but not smokebox numbers, which seem to be the same as LMS smokebox numbers anyway). More news fairly shortly, I hope.

A quick update here, as the decals discussion moved elsewhere. Locos soon to be available, wagons already available, and coaches to come.

'Soon' turned out to be last night, after a flurry of last-minute emails regarding backing colour. S&DJR loco decals in gold with red backing are now available here: http://www.railtec-models.com/catalog.php?search_str=S%26DJR

The gold with light blue backing will be following very shortly. That way we have full freedom to use whatever colour seems to be correct for a particular loco (research on precisely which colour was really used was inconclusive - either, it seemed, depending on which loco and when). Bachmann have used blue, and it seems likely that they did a fair bit of research to make that choice, so perhaps blue predominated with red creeping in from time to time.

I have no connection with Railtec other than the fact that I've spent twenty months talking to the guys there to get these produced, supplying lots of photos and samples of the lettering on various S&D locos.

...and 'very shortly' turned out to be the same day. Gold with blue shading is also now available. They look really good!
