LNER brake van livery

I am building the BH Enterprises etched brass Great Nothern Railway brake van kit.

The instructions say these were bauxite in GNR service but grey in LNER service. I thought all LNER brake vans were bauxite. Who is right?

Thanks, this is a help. Much as I would like a grey brake van I think BH has it wrong.
