Lima had a number of US importers in the 70s and 80s who marketed absurd paint schemes on perfectly reasonable european coach models.
so what is this one? the Pennsy paint has to come off, Id like to have a FS type to go with my FS 444 elok, what d'ya reckon?

It's a Lima Wagons Lit Pullman, done in two authentic and many, many more non-authentic colours, though British Pullman umber/cream and BR(SR) 'Golden Arrow' blue/grey were argueably close-ish. I've got one in dark blue with a silver roof marked 'Chesapeake & Ohio"! Such 'cross-dressing' was quite commonplace in the Lima range; the Brush type 2 was available in RENFE colours, for instance.

Ive seen them in Hew Haven orange also.
the road name written in gigantic letters on the roof makes me cringe.

One Italian, one German and one British.

some of the most common (that is least RARE) child's-toy tier of N gauge trains, and Im frikkin delighted to be playing with them.
I was quite pleased with how easily the factory paint came off. one more detail brushing with the 91% Isopropyl and these will be ready for primer.

front to back,
The FS bought loads of ex-CIWL equipment in the 1970s, kept them in solid blue paint, and ran them for another 15-20 years. This vehicle is a saloon, not a sleeper.
The Mk 1 diner will get the NGS blood and custard treatment,
and the German vehicle will get solid forest green.

put some gold striping on one side, starting to look like something.

Also acquired a twin in a highly amusing paint job. working toward a whole train of CIWL . I have my finger on a box that has one of the baggage cars, going to see if I can strike a bargin for it today.
