The naming of our layout was a little tricky with it being set in Japan. You have to be really careful you don't pick a name that sounds cool, but translates either to something stupid - "This is my layout, it's called broom handle" - or potentially offensive - "Are you aware that your layout translates as 'Blow it out of your Ass'?"

That always put me off non-UK modelling -getting all the signs right etc. Especially when people like Microsoft goof and name their phone OS release Mango...

If I had a Japanese layout I'd probably call it Kendo Nagasaki. Only older members will understand that. :-)

Apologies for a very dull entry...
Mine is Reading General. I am modeling Reading station in the early seventies when it was still called Reading General.

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

Pete Mc

My layout is called,wait for it;

Moss Eisley

When I were a nipper,the first Star Wars film hit the cinema's,and as an 8 year old at the time,I was hooked.
Three years later,The Empire Strikes Back came out which in my mind was the best of the original trilogy.
The idea of Moss Eisley came to me whilst thinking,my layout is set in the late 70's,early 80's and the town of Moss Eisley had suffered quite badly from degeneration due to local industry closing down and relocating elsewhere due to not having local rail links to aid product distribution,even though the main east/west coast mainline runs very close to the town.
I haven't fully decided on which line to model yet,but should Dapol or Farish do an APT-P,then it'll be west coast.At the moment its east coast.
It is a fictional town and that allows me a huge amount of modellers licence to.be applied although not a lot of modelling is being done due to having to install point motors,wire them up then I have to extensively pl,sorry test it all to the point of exhaustion,me that is not me trains.
Never thought I'd name a layout,never thought I'd start to build one for that matter,though my mates still call it a train set which it most definately isn't,not at 9'6" by 4'.
Its my train set and I'll run worra want!
