We have booked a week away to the lake district with our son who is nearly 3.

Could anyone recomend places to go or visit, as its our 1st time on the west coast.
If it helps we are staying near grange over sands.

Cheers

Hi Phil

There is plenty of things to see and do in the Lakes

http://www.wildanimalpark.co.uk/
Be warned it is very "hilly" so can be exhausting on a warm day  :hmmm:

Railway related attractions include
http://ravenglass-railway.co.uk/
http://www.lakesiderailway.co.uk/

another interesting place that is at the lakeside end of the Lakeside railway is this
http://www.lakesaquarium.co.uk/

and you could always combine this with a cruise on the lake

Hope this helps

If you do go the Ravenglass railway, I'd recommend driving up the pass to Hardknott fort http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/daysout/properties/hardknott-roman-fort/ especially if it's a clear day as the view is stunning. Though it can be an entertaining drive if you've not been there before.

I travelled East to West over Hardknott in a 1.1 Panda in a storm - I didn't mind it much and if you like sheer drops and 1 in 3 inclines it's the road to be on.

Oldman

Hardknott pass is definately a Scooby road.
Remember going over it on holiday when i was learning to drive in an Austin 1100.
Have driven it since in a Mk 1 Escort RS1600 with LSD- very interesting      big grin
Modelling stupid small scale using T gauge track and IDl induction track. Still have  N gauge but not the space( Japanese Trams) Excuse spelling errors please, posting on mobile phone

Needed a LSD on the Panda to stop the outside wheels spinning going up through the hairpins in 1st while water was running down the tarmac like a river!

Lankyman

The railway trip round the coast from Grange to Ravenglass is very interesting and scenic.
