Thankyou both Bealman & Dave G,

I've been unable to access the internet for over a week due to problems with my service once again, but the problem now appears to be sorted thankfully  ;)

I had an operating session this evening & thought I'd take some pictures. It's after 21:00 at Shawbury & it's the last connections of the day off the Cambrian line to & from Aberystwyth. This is how this evenings scene looked...

Looking from Shawbury No 1 box at the south end of the station, just visible to the extreme right in the holding siding is 2 car Sprinter 150145 which is now stabled over night having worked in the 21:14 arrival from Aberystwyth, the last arrival of the day from the Cambrian line, seen at the south end of platform 1 is another 2 car Sprinter 150128 with the last train of the day, the 21:29 Shawbury Foregate to Aberystwyth. Class 37, 37254 waits in the up goods with the Dee Marsh to Margam steel coil train & A 3 car Class 108 DMU waits at platform 4 with the local to Wolverhampton.

The 'Aber' is seen waiting at Platform 1a in front of a stabled 3 car West Midlands PTE Class 101

Then the 21:22 Cardiff to Bangor arrives at Platform 5 hauled by 47403 'The Geordie'

Passengers off the Cardiff arrival for the Sprinter for Aber are making a dash for their train which will be leaving shortly

The 21:25 DMU for Wolverhampton departs from platform 4

Followed then by the Aber departing Platform 1a

Seen in the 2 stabling sidings next to Platform 1 is A Class 101 & 150/1 which are stabled over night.

Cheers for now guys,
Mark

Hi Mark

Good that you're back online.

Great set of pics! Thanks for the update.

Thanks Dave  :),

I should really be getting on with more modelling than playing trains, but it just gets too tempting to give them a run when messing with the layout  :P

Hi Chaps,

There's been a lot happening in life lately hence me not updating my thread for quiet a while. Also I've made the decision I want to move house, so how ever long this is going to take, much to consider & do....I have also made the decision to dismantle Shawbury Foregate. The layout has been great to do, & I've proved to myself what I am capable of, but the size of the bedroom & space restraints I have had to compromise with the trackwork, having to use first radius curves & points on the mainlines has caused more than it's fair share of problems, & these have tested my patience when operating the layout

I will however be building a brand new & much better layout after learning from past mistakes. This time, I want an 8ft long board, around 3ft wide, so I can have decent approaches to my station & use a minimum of 2nd radius curves & medium radius electrofrog points. I'll be keeping all my rolling stock ready for it, as my heart is firmly on modelling the the late 80's as well as rescuing most of the buildings off the present layout.

It'll be a while before I can put my house up for sale, so this could be a good project to keep me happy over the upcoming winter months, so watch this space....

In the meantime, I'd like to thank all who have followed my thread, & all the great feedback & comments that have kept me inspired  :D

All the best,
Mark

Hi Mark

Exciting times ahead!

Do you have to dismantle just now? Won't you miss having the opportunity to sneak a occasional run?

A bit like you, we're planning a house move next year and a new layout is in the planning stages albeit I have no real idea how much space I'll have. I keep suggesting a 12'x10' cabin would be really cool!

My current(laid up)  board is 72" x 30" and I find the width quite restricting. Still a great practice layout and it will be fun to see how things go in the new year.

All the best and please keep us up-to-date with what's occurring.

Great shame the layout has to be dismantled, Mark, but I'm sure the next one will be even better and more pleasing for you to operate with larger radii curves

This has been a great layout to follow - but onwards and upwards!

Good luck with the move and new layout :)

Thanks DaveG, Newportnobby & Southernboy for all the great comments  :thankyousign:, @DaveG, the layout is still all standing in the bedroom, but I really need the room back hence me having to break it up. But most of the buildings will be saved for the new layout whenever I get that started. I do have a train set up the loft from the Farish Class 150 Sprinter set so can use the track off that to test new models should they arrive in the meantime (I have a few on order)
Looking forward to seeing your layout should you start a thread here.

All the best,
Mark

Sorry to see this one go Mark, but as you said, and I agree, setrack points, 1st radius curves and running issues are a real motivator to go one better.

Good luck!

Mat. ;)

Thanks Matt  :thankyousign:,

your absolutely right, I remember what you said in your older threads regarding your problems too with first radius curves & setrack points. It just makes it tedious to operate when there's continuous stalling & derailments. Chinley is coming on a treat btw, really will look awsum once you start your scenics. Am keeping a watchful eye  ;)

Sorry to see Shawbury go :thankyousign:

Good luck with your move and I look forward to seeing your new project evolve

Thanks Chetcombe  :thankyousign:,

I can't wait to move to be honest, nothings gone right in the last 3 years, it's kind of helped made me feel unmotivated when it's come to modelling too
But once things are sorted out, i'll be back on with something new & better  :)

All the best,
Mark

Thanks very much Tim, glad you've liked this layout. The new one will hopefully be much easier & less problematic to run than this one hopefully :)

All the best,
Mark
