Or the music publisher approach where you pay every time you read the letter, or mention the letter and have to pay an additional charge to read your letter in public or let a friend see it  :veryangry:

and then there are the boxes I bought, which suited some of my stuff quite well, with a bit of padding. Previously cost £2.20 to send, sudenly went up to over £5.00  :veryangry:

I now have a pile of boxes which I cannot use for posting.

sell them as stock boxes, if they would take a full rake of carriages in each box  ;D

Up until last month we used to have our post collected from our workplace by Royal Mail.
Then they put the cost up by £750 per year :o
Needless to say we told them to stuff it where the sun don't shine

>:( I suspect that in a few months time they will hit on the 'water/gas/electric meter' idea and charge a fee for every package/letter/parcel delivered to your address  :veryangry: :veryangry:

as long as I can charge them for all the c**p they shove through my letterbox, it far outnumbers the proper post  :bounce:

There is a form to stop the unaddressed crap. Not that there should need to be as fly tipping is already an offence!!

about as effective as the telephone preference scheme I expect.

has anyone else noticed how many text messages you get now [ppi, compensation for 'your accident', payday loans, etc] that are addressed to you by name ?

I have just sold a whole batch of stuff on that web site and got a massive shock when the time came to post it all. Last time I posted after selling on ebay, I was paying around £3-£3.50 for first class recorded delivery, I was quoted £6.55 this time!!!!

Madness, I ended up sended smaller, less valuable stuff normal 2nd class and the locomotives 2nd class signed for. What frustrated me is that there has been no information anywhere to inform us the prices have all gone up! Trouble is, if you start quoting £7 for postage, nobody will bid!!

Best wishes

The mail one only covers royal mail unaddressed crap but does seem to work, unlike the phone one which has a useless regulator that never sues anyone for breaking the rules.. just like the press and financial ones didn't

Yes, it's only 'commercial' 'phone calls that are restricted too - 'marketing surveys' aren't, so every ****** claims to be doing a marketing survey, so they can 'legitimately' phone you, even if they're selling uPVC windows or trying to get you to claim for mis-sold PPI.  We've taken to leaving the answering machine on all the time, and only picking up if it's someone we want to speak to.  :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry:

We haven't got a land line so do not get these calls............

Just get texts on the mobile phones, e-mails, ..............................

I only give my mobile number to friends, never to commercial organisations - so I don't get the texts.

yeh same here. local prices are silly. to bring a loco from the uk to here cost 3 pounds to get the same delivery from local shop to my place a total of about 45km is about A$6

bart

Aussie prices now getting silly. Needed to send some bits home to the family about the size of four small coal wagons. Cost me AUD $20. The bits inside were only worth $30.

We have even less choice in South Aus -  parcel weights start at 500g then the next is 3kg. However all parcel are tracked FOC with signatures costing a n extra $3
