N'spirations11 - update

[MikeDunn]

I was taught diphthong!

Did it hurt ?

[James C]

Even in this posting the spell-checker is telling me that I have mis-spelled dipthong -- there, it did it again!
Alan (AJB)

That would be because it's "diphthong" from the Greek "diphthongos" you had a missing H

[Bealman]

This is excellent and thought-provoking discussion but I think it is important to remember that language is an active, on-going thing that we humans do, and it is CONSTANTLY changing. Personally, I find this great as it gives me an avenue to get out off past gaffs, and the possible opportunity to generate a new joke...

you had a missing H

That's me. Am I lost? Probably.

Hi, H

Get me PM? Oops....

With regard to apostrophes, it could be argued that it is actually incorrect to use them at all as they were adopted from the French and were not introduced into the English language until the 16th century.

That would be the same century in which John Harington designed the precursor to the modern flush system toilet, so perhaps your argument would include its use as being incorrect?    (Just kidding. No need to flush my response.)

Actually, all I was trying to do was N'spire and N'thuse the best levels of N Gauge [magazine] production

[H]

Get me PM? Oops....

Yep, many thanks. That sort of thing makes it all worthwhile.

Hi Oscar, Ooops You are right of course. Just shows that even I am not perfect -- and I thought I was!

[H]

UPdate FYI - progress on N'spirations12 (grandma and speeling mistakes included free) is well advanced and well on target for it's scheduled launch at TINGS. I could probably even get it out a fair bit earlier, but there are still stocks of issue #11 unsold and some stockists didn't get their supplies until the weekend just gone. So until sales pick up a bit, I'll have to put it on hold;

I like the deliberate 'it's', grandma

Personally I can't wait for the next issue. I've already devoured the four issues that I could get my hands on, and I need more hints and tips and reviews and so on.

[H]

Sometime's its a stugggle to work it's in to the sentense with the right tents. Aprntly if you leaf out letters or even tripe the rong word it can stil be red and make cents.

I should have bought a copy at the AGM on Saturday but I didn't...

So I ordered one on Wednesday and received it on Thursday! Really excellent service Grahame

This is the first copy of N'spirations I have bought and it certainly lives up to it's name!

I'll admit to have lost most of my interest in N Gauge that after 30 years of membership of the N Gauge Society I had found myself questioning whether I should re-new my membership!

After seeing the layouts at the AGM, fiNetrax and reading N'spirations 11 last night my interest is returning

Hi Michael

Good to hear you're N Gauge interest is being regenerated. I'm sure H will be pleased that his excellent magazine has helped with that.

Let's hope it's a good start that continues and we get to see what you are modelling.
