I bought this two-car DMU (or EMU?) very cheap on eBay recently, I thought if nothing else I could use the chassis (Bachmann) for a scratchbuild/kit. It's built from a kit - the sides are etched brass, the ends white metal, and I think the roof is modified from a plastic RTR coach roof - However, not being very clued up on the various DMU, EMU and DEMU classes, I'm not sure which one it is! It looks to me more like a Class 105 Cravens DMU (the earlier version with headcodes) than anything else, but the cab fronts don't look quite sloped enough (unless this is just due to kit inaccuracy or poor assembly?)

Any clues to what it is (and who produced the kit?)

It's a 105, Jim, but not as we know it.
Two rails good. Three better.

Looks like parts of a B&H Class 105 kit. The tooling was originally by MTK in the 70s and passed to Fleetline before B&H took them over (and made some improvements).

Thanks for the info! It should hopefully look better, and more like the 105 it's meant to be, with a decent repaint + glazing, along with permanent close-coupling to connect the cars instead of the Rapidos. The driving car chassis could really do with replacing with something (probably Tomytec or similar) with the correct wheelbase, which I may do in future (the existing Bachmann chassis can always go in something else). The trailing car is on what appears to be a Lima Siphon chassis.

You realise that you are sailing dangerously close to Bachmann's 2013 releases to be doing anything kit-built! You may have just guaranteed us a RTR Class 105 in N  :D

Just look at what happened to Mr H and his Brighton Belle.
