Just to say hi all on my virgin post
i have been into n gauge for over 20 years. My layouts have been down more than up. I am a diesel boy but have all my dads old stuff to. Should of sold some of those Minitrix Britannias when they were the price of gold but just couldnt bring myself to do it.  What do you do with loads of minitrix  and lima coaches as apparently they are now officially not good enough any more compared to the latest offerings. Well i am no purist. So my diesel layout will have its fair share of steam excursions not to mention a visit from the bullet train , TGV & Amtrak.
As i get older i am getting more discerning and even sold some continental stuff on ebay the other day but cant bring myself to get rid of my dads old stuff. Truth is even though my soft spot is BR blue it only gets one good magazine article to get me wandering. I just like trains & modelling nothing beats it and sadly these days i do mean nothing. :hellosign: :hellosign:

Hi Jabbabill - welcome aboard.
We're not bothered what you model as long as it's  :ngauge:

Just enjoy yourself and get stuck in!

Welcome in

I used to have some old Minitrix kettles as a teenager, couldn't tell you what they were exactly, but I seem to remember one was a 2-6-2 something or other :D

If I remember correctly, the 2-6-2 something or others came out after the 2-6-2 thing-amy-jigs,

if I am wrong I am sure there will be someone who will put me back on the right path  ;)

cheers John.

Hello,I think the loco in question may have been a 2-6-2 what a ma call it.Never had one meself but there were a few varieties and flavours, bacon and egg being one as far as I know but only at breakfast time.

They came in twos so were called pairees. On a Sunday they were used on church specials and got the name Prayerees.

Exit stage left...

As you can tell, Jabbabill, there's just nothing sacred on this forum ::) ;D

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I joined up as i thought i could do with some idiots guides but maybe i will be guided by idiots either way going to be fun. I know what the minitrix things are as i have the boxes and it says on them. Its an N205 in black. Rivet counters will say its not acurate and based on incorrect vorsprung durch technik but i like it. I think it might be a 2MT but will have to check Montys guide. Is that a Prairie (or Pairie - i liked that one). All i know my dad had it since mid 80s and it would pull 40 peco 12ft vans round his impressive layout.
He was strictly LMS but did not mind me and the boys bringing our modern stuff round to give it a run out although not to impressed when the scale 40ft tall Lima Detic took all the foot bridges with it. However he was keen to keep son and grand kids visiting and playing and thus embarked on an upgrade of crossrail proportions and adjusted his loading gauge so that grand kids US outline could get through the tunnels. Joy on their face is what its all about which is why i will like NGF :)
