'Penn Salt' Tank Cars
« on: January 27, 2013, 07:11:03 PM »
Hi Guys

Im collecting a rake of these:

These are made by Bachmann and came out in the mid 70's.......

My two question is to all you North American Railroaders is:

A) What type(s) of Locomotive would pull these in real life and from what road?

B) What was actually carried inside these tank cars in real life? (if any clever cloggs says Salt then they are wrong!)

From the research i have done, apparently these cars would be full of some dodgy chemical that was used in the salt refinement process. Correct me if Iam wrong!!!

Help much appreciated!
