Which coaches for LMS/Midlands era 1959 to 1969(ish)

I want to buy some more coaches this weekend and wonder if someone could tell me the correct coaches/colours to look for/buy?
I have one Green Class 47 and plan on getting another plus a Green Class 37 and maybe a Class 08/20 (green or blue) amongst other things so your advice would be much appreciated.
I would like my first layout to be around 1959 to 1969(ish).

In the period you are modelling, you would still have had some old Stanier coaches running up until about 1962. These are available from Farish. Most of the coaches would have been Mk1s though.

Maroon livery for coaches was introduced in 1957 so by your date most of the coaches would have been maroon. There would probably have been a few crimson and cream coaches about still until the early 60s. From about 1966 onwards you would start to see BR Blue and Grey livery appearing on coaches.

So Maroon Mk1s would probably the most common vehicle for your period but you would still have had some stanier vehicles and some crimson/cream vehicles in the early part of the period. At the late end you would have some blue/grey starting to appear.

Hi Karhedron, thats fantastic information thank you I really appreciate the help.  I have a rake of Mk1 Blue & Grey so that covers off the later stuff so its maroon + crimson & cream this weekend.  I guess the wallets going to get a bashing on Sunday
