Oops - and Help!
« on: January 06, 2013, 04:48:24 PM »
In between other things I've been doing a built of building work. Yesterday I did the free Metcalfe kit from RM for practice (yes, I know it's the wrong scale) then today i started on the Metcalfe Signal Box kit. Again for practice I did the huts first rather than start with the more complex boxes themselves.

I'd got it in mind that the small signal box may be my first effort at kit bashing, in that it would be better as a boarded up derelict for the backstory, however I've reached that point even sooner, having forgotten to put the windos in the Plate Layers' Hut!

So, the help part! Does anyone know of a downloadable image for plywood that I can print out?

General Google searches don't provide anything with a high enough resolution to scale down successfuly, and i don't think there's anything in Scalescenes that will work.

If I can't find anything I'll have to get the camera out and find a large enough sheet of ply but it would be handy to download something.

Thanks

Glen

Hi  Glen,

This site has plywood in  various finishes you can download  in the wood section ;)

http://www.cgtextures.com/

Also  this site  has a tange of wood finishes  you might want to consider as an option.

Brilliant!

Many thanks for that - it should solve my problem. As soon as the registration goes through for CG Textures I'll download a plywood and make up the boards!

And here is the evidence...

They're not great modelling, but each one I do is a bit better than the previous one!

The "ply" is just printed onto paper and stuck on with Pritt - I might reprint onto heavier paper or card to give it a but more thickness but it works for the moment.

Thanks again for the link.
