I was told that in Cologne a Septic was heard to ask why the Dom (The gothic Cathedral) was blackened. He was told it was because it was near the railway and soot from the steamers caused it. He then asked why they had built the Cathedral so close to the railway.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
