Stone Walls

Could I have ideas for making stone walls for gardens etc. I've tried a piece of balsa shaped and painted grey, might look  ok if weathered, also bought a pack of Ratio coarse stone but can't work out what to do with the top if I stuck 2 pieces together.

Stone or brick walls usually have a capping layer which is the full width of the brickwork and slightly overhanging. That stops water soaking into the wall itself.  So if you've got a wall made from card or plastic you want a piece of card on top slightly wider than the width of the wall (or a piece of plasticard or similar). That is easier to score into stones.

Another option of course is tto cover the top with a hedge

Oops! I built a low brick wall last year in the garden in 1:1 scale, not being a bricklayer I just laid a row of bricks lengthwise along the top...

Thanks everybody for some really useful ideas, the hedge over the top sounds like a great cop out.
