Hi -

Does anyone know of a decal or vinyl set for the MK2 RLO visitscotland.com livery?   I don't know if this was only applied to 6703 or others.   Any other prototype insight would be appreciated.

Thanks.

As I understand that Adam at Electra Rail is no longer producing vinyls, you may want to contact eBay seller ChrisCode3, he mainly does vinyls for trucks but has produced railway loco and coach vinyls in n gauge. His vinyls are not quite as good as Adam produced but still very acceptable. He can do specials like the coach you are after. Make sure you provide accurate dimensions for the vinyls as he needed a second attempt at some class 47 vinyls he did for me as the first set were too small. Unfortunately I have not got around to completing the class 47 or I would have posted a photo

Hope this helps

Can't say I like the livery...........

I'll be sure to pass that on to the relevant authorities. A valuable contribution

Someone has taken on Electra, so with hope they'll be back up and running in due course. I've heard quite a few comments about "Chris Code" ones on eBay, but no first hand experience.

Hopefully the transfer process is swift and effective!

I've tried some and they are not (in my opinion) as good as adam's products.

When I did the artwork for this coach set as vinyls in 4mm, I sent Adam my artwoek to see if he could produce them. I still have my rake, but iast the time it wasn't the way forward in 4mm. When he did them in N it worked and they became available.

I've attached a jpg - if you are interested, I can find the disk with the large scale drawing and let you have a copy.

The ChrisCode3 vinyls for the class 47

As the photo, the printing is not as sharp as those produced by Adam and the finish is duller, also seems that the print surface is prone to marking when being handed, this should be resolved when varnished. I am going to use the ROG vinyls on the loco and I will cut the vinyl behind the cab door and paint the door itself and then add the section under the cab, I will also leave the original cant rail on the Farish body and cut the vinyl just below, the roof will need painted blue.

I am not sure if ChrisCode3 print's coach sides on clear vinyl so windows look better than imantation glass, certainly the loco sides are printed on white vinyl

They remind me of Adam's very early 'vinyls' which were just like that, matt with opaque 'windows'.

Thank you for all the information!  Great to see that Electra may not be out for long.

I have asked RailTech if they would be interested in doing decals for this coach but haven't heard anything back yet.  Was this livery only applied to 6703?

I have ordered some vinyls from ChrisCode3, who doesn't need a Marmite lorry on their layout?   :D  I am not sure about the solid windows on the coaches though.

Yes - the news of the Electra future is great to hear.

I don't think Railtech will do this livery - very much a one off with a limited life in service. Yes - 6703 was the only coach in this scheme.

I've managed to cut out the window openings on my ChrisCode3 vinyls - 's no easy, but the effect is well worth the time taken.it

I'd suggest Railtec aren't the best choice here. Steve is hugely busy, and will generally only add things to the range that are likely to have broader popularity. In N that's a hard sell. John Peck at Precision Labels is far better set up for producing custom decals. Or have a go yourself? If you've got decent shots of the coach, they'll be the complexity on that one as it'll be a tough pattern to recreate digitally.
