anyone who likes to know what is in the skies above us, try this
https://globe.adsbexchange.com/

at present there is an RAF sentry over the north east, a Luxemburg sentry over the north sea, a couple of Typhoons appearing and disappearing over the north sea, an loads of choppers here there and everywhere.

what is also interesting is the number of foreign air force aircraft overflying the UK.

do love the callsign of the Apache over Anglia ......

Don't forget that it is the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford this weekend, so this may explain some of the interesting stuff flying around at the moment?

This will be the first year that the Air Tattoo has been on since we moved to a house where, apparently, the display aircraft often fly right overhead!  :claphappy: (We moved here 2 weeks after the show took place in 2019...)
LNER and PKP fan in the home of the GWR!

SOLEX02 now on finals at Waddo

Only slightly off topic but I finally got round to watching Rob Bell's 'Planes that made Britain' tonight. It was the episode about the Harrier which, to me, is just as awesome a plane as the Camel, Spitfire and Lancaster featured in previous episodes. I found it quite shocking the UK does not have a fully airworthy Harrier :o. Luckily the Spanish still use them and will do until about 2025.

To make it easier to find military stuff, click the U button at the top of the page. That only show military aircraft, which handily also includes most of the BBMF.

A bit late, but last Thursday the Duxford-based Canso/Catalina flew over my house apparently en route to Belgium, according to Flightradar.

It also did a similar flightpath about three years ago, so I don't know if it was going to an airshow over there.

Best I saw for planes flying over houses was some years ago when a chap was looking for his house on the Google satellite view - he couldn't see it because the BBMFs Lancaster was in the way  :smiley-laughing:

a couple of tankers on their way north from Brize, so I expect the Typhoons will be out again today.

no sign yet of the Luxembourg sentry, but UGLY1 [Apache] is over Anglia.

and a pair of Hawks over the Irish sea, Ninja11 and Ninja12

It's also interesting to see the NATO aircraft doing circuits near the Ukrainian border. There's usually a few Black-Hawks, AWACS and tankers keeping an eye on proceedings.

just noticed an A332 KC3 on it's way back to Brize, left there this morning, been flying racetracks over Jekabpils, Latvia

a long day for that crew.

ok, bit out of date now, as over 48 hours waiting for approval.

I wonder if I'll reach 48 hours before approval of my previous post. I wonder if it is actually worth posting when on moderation, perhaps that is the idea. :hmmm:

yes I have
