My other half is always complaining about how much I am spending on my hobby, she had better not complain after today.

One of her hairy pets had to go to the vet for a small operation to remove a bladder stone, the bill cam in at a whopping £680.

What sort of hairy beast was it, some sort of rare bread dog that's worth thousands, a thorough bread race horse.

Nope a Guinea Pig.

Mind you she was not impressed when I said she could get a new one for £25, where is her sense of humour now.

That's the next 5 or 6 new trains gone down the drain.

Pets, who'd have them.

I laugh, 'cos I get it. 'Daddy's Little Princess' has burnt through somewhere in the region of £2000+ in the last six months. Not bad for a free feral kitten 17yrs ago.

Praise the Lord for PetPlan!

Sometimes you bite the dog...

...sometimes the dog bites you!

I can explain it to you...

...but I can't understand it for you.

Going on to other hobbies, I also like riding ebikes - makes Farish look cheap.

My trusteed steed was more towards the bottom end at just under £2k. Thats still a lot of locos.

Working doesn't seem to be the perfect thing for me so I'll continue to play.

Immaterial, and irrelevant.

You can't get Petplan type insurance for Guinea Pigs, they are classed as exotic pets so not covered, even though they are Britain's 4th most popular pet behind Dogs, Cats and Rabbits.

Not petplan but:

How much does Guinea Pig insurance cost?

Guinea Pig insurance costs around £15 a month for an Essential policy. This is for one Guinea Pig covered for up to £2,000 of vet fees.

About £180 a year or about £1440 over lifespan of 8 years.
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.
