Hi Caz,
I am also basing my layout in an area mainly served by GWR and SR (sort of in the Oxford area). A4's have been known to get to Oxford, having come across from the Eastern Region via Bletchley although this was a rarity.
Or how about having a fictitious further round of 'Locomotive Exchange Trials'?
