Hi all,

Am thinking of doing similar thing to this on part of the layout......

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/VXagAQJognA/maxresdefault.jpg

...but as it was an afterthought it would mean the height of the sea defence would be 5cm (8m) and the length of the drop angle (can't think of a word for it) would be 12 cm (19.2m).

The layout is French so 1:160 scale but my maths is probably up the creek. I do know I've had a few glasses of wine  ;)

I think the height's OK, it's the angle drop that bothers me. My practice with some cork underlay makes the wall looks too big. I don't live in France or by the sea so hard to tell.

I'm not very good at scale anyway so what does anyone think and any help gratefully appreciated. It doesn't have to be exact by the way, I just don't want it to look stupid.

Cheers weave  :beers:

Your scaling seems ok, but looking at the pic (nice looking place !) i think the wall would over power the model scene....Its just too much ( to me) something like Dawlish may be better proportioned.....

Thank you,

It's more the right hand side of the photo but know what you mean.

Ta weave.

IF you did it at high tide it would look great!

Revetment is the word you are looking for.

Thank you,

Have never heard that word before.

Googled it......

and thought that 'Rock Armour Revetments' was a good name for a band  :D

Seriously though, thanks very much as I can look up more pics without being inundated with harbour walls.

Cheers weave  :beers:
