Does anyone remember the Micromodels card locomotive kits that were around in the 50's (maybe later as well)?
You used to get a series of cards, a bit like the Metcalfe kits, but with no pre-cutting. You could make up a card loco to something around 2mm scale with quite a lot of small detail parts to fit.
If you google Micromodels you can find pictures of the card kits (1/3 or 1/6 each in predecimal currency).
Would be fascinating to get hold of one of these, if that's possible, and give it a go.
Mind you, if they are still available from collectors etc., they probably cost a packet.
It would be nice to find out if you can get them though.
:beers:
Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Micromodels are available on eBay, you can get the original sets and modern reproductions. The prices vary but are not excessive.

A few years ago I bought reproductions on a CD. They are really nice but look quite difficult to make well.

You will need lots of patience and good eyesight.

Yes, I bought some as a child in the 60s. In recent years I've managed to find both originals and modern reproductions. There are even a few new designs (Millimodels) on ebay. Some useful sites:

I originally found out about them from a friend who was interested in finding the SAR model of the Royal Train.

He was hoping to use it as reference to enable him to build an N gauge model of the train.

There are a wide range of models to be found including historic buildings and ships.
