Great story, Claude. You have my sympathies 'cos in my last house the starlings pecked through the metal (yes, metal) air vents and proceeded to do a good rendition of Alfred Hitchcocks "The Birds" at all hours of the day/night by nesting in the loft insulation and cr*pping everywhere.

Great story! I had some sparrows in my loft/eves, and I made it difficult for them to come back to the same place the year after by slipping some chicken wire into the space that they were using (they didn't sell starling wire). The next year they went and set up nest in the other corner of the roof, so I blocked that up when they had gone too. Not had any visits from them for about 5 years now.
Hope you don't have any more visits from the fury things again. I like the curryhouse strategy. :)

Have you considered a few ounces of semtex set in corners of the loft as a cunning squiggles destroyer?

Just a few ounces in each corner would take off the roof and probably half of the walls around it!
Semtex is powerful stuff, thats why its used in mining as its a good blasting agent.

Oh I agree   it may take a wee bit of experimenting to get the quanities just right
