I got replacement tender screws from Bachmann. They really are very small and very easy to lose.

I've not had any pick up issues, but after a quick glance this morning, the tender wheels without traction tyres seem to be really loose and have a large amount of side to side play. Is this normal for motorised tender wheels? I would have thought some play is vital for negotiating curves and pointwork...

Yes, normal.

Or what about moving the wheel set with traction tyres to the front?

No, this is the worst thing you can do - the most traction will be gained from having them on the rearmost axle.

Alan

Did you ring Bachmann for the spare screws? I could do with a few spare bits from them, do you still have the number/email? And how much did they charge you to send them out?

There is a "contact us" tab on the website and I left a message, got a reply and they posted them to South Africa. I think there was a small charge and I paid with PayPal.
