Quick question, but do you need 009 track for 009 rolling stock, or is it just more prototypical sleeper spacing? Have been offered some 009 stuff, but all my track is Setrack.

Oldman

If you hide the sleepers under ballast not a problem at all.
Peco are bringing out set track for 009  it is code 80  and will be 9" radius but every thing will run on your N Gauge track.
I have to admit to stripping the sleepers off peco code 80  flexitrack to hand lay my own custom track.
Modelling stupid small scale using T gauge track and IDl induction track. Still have  N gauge but not the space( Japanese Trams) Excuse spelling errors please, posting on mobile phone

Thanks for that prompt reply. Will have to see what is on offer, and have a play with it. Quite like the look of the Peco Barnstable stock, but this is more "home made"!

Kipper, are you running 009 or N gauge?. Cheers john.

Thanks for starting this thread Kipper and all those who answered .I think you may have sorted out the final solution to my points problems.
Will order one of each short electrofrog points and find out

Hi, I am currently running N, but have been offered some 009, and just wanted to be sure 009 would run on N Setrack. I do have insulfrog points, so will have to change them (no bad thing as my 0-6-0 tank does not like them, and that may be converted to a 009 loco).

I built a 009 'rabbit warren' layout back in the '70s using Peco 'crazy' track, but used Code 80 standard N in tunnels. Peco 009 points are electrofrog.

Just received a couple of bits and pieces from Hattons to compare geometry etc of short points and a single length of SL-400 track.
Looks ideal for what I want/need it for and matches N gauge track sizes perfectly

I built my 009 layout from track I had left over from 'Painbrook', I used Sundaela board, 1 sheet of 4x2 .It's just an oval with a passing loop and a siding, it can be viewed and operated from both sides, the middle is filled with a loco shed, coal stage, water tank and a small goods shed. First two locos where Peco white metal kits using superglue, and Farish 0-6-0 chassis'. I just wanted to have a play/change of scale. It goes by the name of 'Magsholme' and lives on the supporting shelf under the proper layout. It's not quite finished, I havn't been near it in over a year plus :-[. Cheers john.

Points available are currently 12" radius. Hoping they bring out some 9"one in the future.

If you want to run any 009 on a  N layout remember height and width clearances are different.  width of some of my 009 stock is 25mm  and the highest bit of rolling stock 40mm above rail  height.
