The latest Rails of Sheffield newsletter has details of the Farish Eastern Freight set at £89.24

Seems like a decent price

Considering they are selling the J39 on its own for £73.91 it is definitely a very good price

That's what I was thinking......

It looks like it comes with only a bogie bolster and a break van so I guess that covers the £15 extra. A few bits of set track and a controller for free really.....

Pretty good if you were just starting, but if all you wanted was the engine you'd be as we'll buying it on its own I guess

I've read here and elsewhere that the little Bachmann DC controllers are actually quite good too.

Seems like a good price for the set given it contains this brand new tool loco.

Cheers,
Alan

I can vouch for that, Alan.
A simple no frills little controller that is ideal, if only for use on a test loop for running in locos - DCC users take note :D

I have to agree that the basic Bachman DC controller is a lovely thing.  It feels like a quality item and provided fine low-speed control.  I only replaced it because I needed an AC power supply to run point motors.

Yeah , when I saw the price on the Rails newsletter for the set , it seemed like a very good deal ......as my late brother in law would have said (usually about food , actually ) , "It would be rude NOT to !".So I ordered one , which gives me the J39 I really wanted & some extra bits to sell on Ebay if I feel I want to get back into that having had the summer off it completely .
