Centre Cars have never been available seperately... (just slotting a centre car into a 2 car unit would not be correct for many 3 car units anyway)

Your best bet is find someone with a three cat unit who only wants a two car set  ;)

i didnt think the 2 car unit looked different to a 3 car unit did it? apart from the fact one was 2 cars one was 3 :S

DMU formations and 101s in particular are a minefield...

Most 2 car units were 1 power car +1 trailer with a brake compartment in the power car and first class in the trailer.

3 car units most commonly had two powered driving cars and one unpowered centre car. One power car and two trailers though not unknown was considered underpowered for most lines. On some the first class section was in the centre car not the driving car and a few had the brake compartment in the centre car not a driving car.

As for 4 car units... the possibilities are even more varied!!!

So this thread got me thinking... Did any of the 101's I have had for years come with a centre car ?? I've always had them as two car units... in a dark dark room was a dark dark box etc.....

It was just to the left of the Rocking Horse Poop behind the Hens Teeth... :)

Thanks to you Portland Docks for making me have a look..
Think you should send that my way

Back in the '80s when the original Farish model came out I had a lot of fun swapping parts round to make a correct formation 4-car Met. Camm. This was helped by the fact that you could substitute a cab for a plain end and vice-versa. The most difficult part was putting the power bogie into a trailer type underframe.
