In late GWR days County Class had the slab-sided Hawksworth tender. Did Kings or Castles have them as well?

Also

In 1946-47 what colour lamps did the engines carry, red or white? By which i mean the container not the colour of the light!

Once the Hawksworth tenders were introduced, they became pretty much standard for new builds.
The "Modified Halls got them as did Castles.
Inevitably though, there was a fair bit of shuffling round over the following years, and they appeared on earlier locos - particularly Castles - the only way of being sure is by reference to photos.
I have never come across a King or a Grange with one though ...

One or two Granges ran with Hawksworth tenders (there are a couple of photos) but they were not common.

I don't think that the Kings ever ran with them. I vaguely recall reading somewhere that the pipework for the King tenders was different so they effectively restricted to that class. I could be wrong though as I cannot find a reference at the moment.

As to your loco lamp question, I remember coming across an on-line copy of an old GWR memo dated 12/1936 that said that as of that date all loco and tail lamps were to be repainted white as they came in for routine maintenance.  This process took several years.  Before that they were all painted red.  I believe that the other companies changed from their own special types at the same time.  Don't forget that all GW locos carried two lamps -  if the headcode only needed one, the spare lamp was carried on a bracket generally placed above the splasher for the front left driving wheel, not directly visible from the front of the loco.

Hawksworth tenders were not well liked by loco crews as the high tender front made it difficult to manipulate fireirons standing still, never mind at speed, at which time the tender's riding capabilities had to be experienced to be believed - I was on the footplate of 6998 from Templecombe to Salisbury back in the late 1980's and at 60mph it rode like a tin can being kicked down a cobbled street compared to the loco, which was rock steady I have never before or sice seen a vehicle ride so badly
