Lessee ...... Worcester ......

SVR of course ... and the Tysley Open Day ... neither are just Steamers, so if you're into Diseasels you'll see some.  If you do like steam more, Vintage Trains have some good trips shortly too.
Hi Mike,
I seem to miss the Tysley open days every time. Whats the best way to find out info?

Thanks

David

The best way is to become a member  :P  You save 50% on the entry fee too.

The next best is to check out the website - this is for the next Open Day : http://www.tyseleylocoworks.co.uk/tlw/tlw_next_od.htm/.  This far ahead, attending locos are unknown.  It's a fair guess to say that Princess Elizabeth will be there as static (her certificate has now expired; she lives @ Tysley these days, and odds are that the vast majority of work on re-certifying her will be done on-site), as will several Manors, Halls and Castles (and hopefully Clun Castle will be more recognisable than she has been these past 2 years !).  Last year, they had a visiting Duchess of Sutherland, L94 tank, 9600 tank, and the Jubilee Kolhapur was one of the statics.  Check out the pages on past Open Days.

Well worth getting to, these Open Days; we all know what a double-header is like, yes ?  Imagine a four-header (quad-header ?), racing down a relatively short track !  :bounce:  Exciting  :D  And with the new Engine Shed extension being built, we should be able to see more locos under maintenance

Pengy, that is very kind.  I have quite a lot of pics from 2009 when I did a whirlwind tour of Reading before I left for the US, and several press cuttings from 1975 from Reading library.  Somewhere, I have a plan drawn up with dimensions and all... one press cutting shows an aeriel photo with a lot of detail (plus I have Google Earth images).  So I should be all set to start modelling it.

The Metal Box building is actually called Queen's House and is next to the railway, and right opposite Forbury Gardens (now also next door to One Reading Central).  It was really a bit of a concrete monstrosity at the time... definitely no art deco masterpiece, and although run down now, it does have a bit of 70s charm about it... especially compared to the unbelievably bland steel and glass rubbish they seem to have thrown up in reading over the last decade or so.

Thanks John, I will try to post more pics as soon as something looks even half as good as Frankland! (The recent update is an inspiration for anyone with modeller's block).

I'm a personality prototype... you can tell, can't you.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the link.
Just my luck, it's my eldest sons birthday that weekend so I have no chance going to the next open day.
I will keep my eyes open for the next one.
Thanks again
