Can any one tell me why some of these Farish Esso 100 ton  Black with Red band  tankers have yellow corners and some are just plain black.
Are some just older models or does it denote different fuel ?

Have you got a photo?

The only TEA tanks that Farish have released with yellow frames above each bogie is the BP Green ones (3708 or 373-561).

I suspect someone's swapped the tanks, or simply repainted the frames above the bogies.

Class A tanks (Low flash point) would generally have grey bodies with red solebars. Class B would be black. A broad orange band would indicate the wagon was carrying compressed/liquified gas.

It wasn't until the late 80s/early 90s that variations were permitted, allowing BP to paint their solebars yellow.

Thanks Steven I have 9 with yellow above the bogies and 1 just black I cant remember where or how long ago I got the 9 it was several years ago but I only had the all black one recently .Its strange that someone would have swapped the chassis or painted them ,I am now even more puzzled,Do you think I should paint the yellow ones Black ?

Can you post a photo Bob?

Or do you know the catalogue number?

As I said, I think you have a mix of BP Green (#3708) and Esso black (#3704)

Does this match with the models you have?

It might also be that their previous owner painted the corners yellow because they looked nice!

Based on your description, (but lacking a picture!) yes, the solebars should be black.

Sorry Steven B .
the 9 Black with Red bands are Esso but with with yellow over the bogies like the green tankers . i bought them second hand with no boxes years ago and the All black one recently of off Ebay again no box so I dont know the part numbers, and I think I will keep them as they are . I cant  put photos on I am one of several members who haven't managed to post pictures on the main Forum .
I dont really mind to be honest as I am a real true RULE ONE MAN if I like something ,I buy it if I have the cash at the time, and I run it on my layout .
I allways tell visitors that before they come and if they dont like seeing a Pendolino on the Up line and a GWR Twin Railcar on the down line then the door to the shed is in the corner and close it and the gate on your way out .
So far only a Father and Son were disgusted with my layout and stock and even the shed itself as like most railway sheds its NOT PRISTINE and there is NO central heating .They were the type of modellers where even the people had to have the correct clothes for the period they were modelling .I love my railway and its there for me to  have fun and enjoy with my friends .
