I'm on the US Bachmann mailing list and have just received a copy of their US 2022 catalogue.  Nothing hugely interesting, except I noticed on their "Thomas The Tank Engine" page that they intend to produce an "Emily" in N.

"Emily" is fairly obviously a tweaked GNR Stirling Single, so if this is to be a powered model (and there's no indication that it won't be) it might potentially be a useful basis for conversion, or indeed provide a useful donor chassis for other models of singles.  Does anyone know if Bachmann intend to sell their N "Thomas" range in the UK?  Nothing yet on the UK Bachmann website - just the 00 and large-scale versions.

This is the 00 "Emily":

I will await developments...

There seems to be *some* availability of the Bachmann Thomas stuff in the UK, though whether or not they are a little on the "grey import" side I don't know (as it was with the Tomix Thomas stuff back in the day)

For example:

A Stirling Single out of an Emily, well I've certainly seen it done with the G scale version :)

For more information on these you could try getting in touch with Andy at Sawyer models of Leigh.

I know he imports Bachmann Thomas from the USA.

The Bachmann Thomas range (currently Thomas, Percy, Annie, Clarabel and some trucks) is available to all UK Bachmann stockist - no grey import needed.

I'm hoping Toby gets shrunk from the OO Gauge range.

Bachmann are also working their way through the narrow gauge engines in 009.

That's good to know. I'll keep my eyes peeled for Emily in due course.

Seems to be only be a small selection of the range has been given proper UK releases and none of the N gauge yet. Some of it is available for pre-order on some retailers but no dates and the idea of a pre-order gets a bit funny when the item is easily available in the US.

Seems a bit funky that Thomas stuff would be so hard to get in the country that created the damned franchise.

The first batch landed a couple of years ago - there are numerous videos on YouTube from November 2020 comparing them to the Tomix models.

Whilst there are new batches of Thomas and Percy due, five minutes of Googling found tank and open wagons from UK shops.

That does look to have conversion potential....

You would think the manufacturer would have figured out they could make variations of Emily though ? aka A Stirling Single using most of the same tooling ?

It would be a Rule No. 1 loco for most of us, but I would be tempted to buy one. Here's the real thing at Loughborough:

Lovely old loco, very elegant

It would be great to have a manufacturer to produce a proper n gauge model of the loco
