How many of us model the grouping era 1923-47 and which company/ies?  I ask because looking at manufacturers current offerings, there is not much steam compared to the flood of diesel and electric stock being reviewed and advertised in recent N gauge Journals.

For myself modelling the Southern 1930s there is very little; a search of Dapol and Farish and Rails of Sheffield no longer even show the Dapol Schools nor Farish N class, loads of livery variations of M7 and Terrier, the only locos with tenders are Spam cans (Bulleid pacifics) after my modelling period. With the demise of Union Mills we have lost T9, 700 and 0395 ex LSWR classes amomg others.
As for kits not a lot to choose from, ex LSWR N15 from BHE and S15 from Langley, a bit of hacking can produce the H15 and Maunsel King Arthur H15 and S15. Some 3D prints are appearing too but sometimes finding suitable chassis is not easy.

It's not just Union Mills, with Etch Pixals, N Brass and Shapeways going it feels like it has been a bad time to model in n gauge.

I'm certainly glad I got all the bits I need for my layout from a number of the small suppliers while they were available. Stocking up is sometimes the right thing to do!

Not sure how you can scratchbuild in N now, or detail up a basic 3D print, without N Brass. It's a shame his stuff didn't go to other suppliers as he had the largest range of small parts. Etched Pixels were a little bit more specific, and gradually getting outdated, and as for Shapeways, well the world was your oyster.....

Luckily I bought 2 Schools and 3 N class when they first came out. I've managed to mix 'n match and hack the BHE N15 and Langley S15 to produce both Urie and Maunsell H15, N15/Arthur and S15 mainly cab roofs and fotplates need atention plus chassis with apprpriate wheel size and spacing;  A Jubilee of Scot can be hacked to provide a Nelson loco and using a hacked BHE N15 tender & a UM tender drive plus an extra axle.
At least Dapl have produced Maunsell coaches, although no Restaurant nor open 3rds for which I had Worsley Works make me some etched sides to fit over Dapol or Farish coaches, with "artwork"  printed onto A4 self adhesive labelstock.
