Good evening to members of the forum and my friends, (well, I think there are a couple on the forum).  As some of you may have noticed, there has been a lack of communication from me over the last few weeks, especially in the 'Joke' department. For this I profoundly apologise and hope to get back to normal service asap.

One of the main problems has been that both Louisa and myself have been ill with what I can only describe as severe flu' like symptoms - fever, runny nose, headaches and achy joints. The worst part has been the achy joints – much worse that one gets with 'normal' flu'. It was that bad two weeks ago that Louisa took three days sick leave from work. That is the first time ever whilst we have lived in Ireland and, possibly, the first time in her working life. I was going to ring in sick, but who do you ring when you are retired?  ???. I went out to speak to the Postman the other day and he remarked on the number of people who have been affected by this current round of flu' and did say that the majority of people were complaining of the aches and pains in their joints..

Anyway, enough waffling. I just wanted to wish good fortune, prosperity and, more importantly, good health to each and every one of you and hope that 2023 is a better place than 2022 has been for some of us. If you are one of those members who live on the other side of the world, I hope your celebrations went well. I will be having having a glass of 'Jurra' later, (purely for medicinal purposes of course  ;))., so I can offer a toast to you all. :beers:
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

I have wished every one a Happy Healthy and Prosperous New Year on our Facebook page but now wish the same to all my friends on the main page but without the picture .
Hope to see some of you in the New Year when the weather improves .

I posted this on my Dawlish Warren thread but its better placed here.

I hope 2023 will be a good one for you.
Working doesn't seem to be the perfect thing for me so I'll continue to play.

A Happy New Year to all our readers, as they say!
For me, last year was awful, so I'm looking forward to actually doing something on the layout rather than just buying models to run on it sometime never :-[

Papyrus

And a happy new year from the Papyrus household.

Like, it seems, many people, 2022 was not a good year for us. Maybe not as bad as for Mick @Newportnobby and some others, but we're still glad to see the back of it tbh. Hoping 2023 is better for everybody.

Good health, good luck, and happy modelling to all!

Cheers,

Chris

Happy New Year one and all!

Hopefully we'll all have a better year, and I shall try to drop in a bit more often than of late. It's been a funny year, with Covid affecting Sheila and myself after I bought it back from Austria (or Innsbruck Airport, or the aircraft, or a Toby Carvery, or....... who knows where!) at the end of August. Muscles now aching and physical endurance seriously compromised, so much so that I was unable to run from the Bull Terrier that thought repeatedly attacking - and biting - me last month was a good idea.

Mentally very tired too, so the usual sparkle is lacking but I hope the recent improvements will continue to bring me - and SWMBO - out of the doldrums.

On a bright note we had two Moorhens visit our water feature yesterday; a Green Woodpecker has taken up residence nearby and frequently visits the garden in search of the not-so-dormant lawn ants; and today I had a very close encounter of the nice kind with a baby seal that had hauled itself out onto the sand near Skegness to rest in the sunlight.

All nice reminders that life is good, as I hope and wish it to be for every one of you.
