Thanks @class37025, living not far from Bournmouth (Hurn as was) we've had a lot of strangers overhead in recent weeks and this has enabled me to identify some of them including a Maltese registered Airbus in NHS colours which has presumably been ferrying PPE equipment.

My son is doing a shift at RAF Scampton this week. Last time I was there, there were Vulcans parked up. Great sight in the control tower watching one doing a touch and go.....Awesome sight seeing the afterburners lit up!

I guess the only flights Flightradar24 will pick up now will be the red arrows and a few trainers!  :(

when I was there, the most exciting sight was when we had a TACEVAL, four QRA Vulcans streaming off the QRA pan and straight into the air, followed as quickly as possible by every other airframe that could be made airworthy.

the QRA scramble was not so much heard as felt.

don't think anything could beat that sight / sound.

Mr Sprue

RAF Coningsby Just down the road has the fighters now.. I remember that being almost a redundant airfield once!

An old thread, but useful.........

Just watched the Lancaster on Flight radar, and then it flew directly overhead about 350'.

What a sight and sound........the jets are forming up about ten miles inland from me.

Yes, it (FR) does time out after a while. I believe I saw the Lancaster (well - it had 4 propellers and looked like a WW2 bomber...) pass over Walsall at about 14:00 today - stunning!

Yep, out of interest I was following it today, it went to the Midlands Air show.

FR never used to time out, a couple of years ago I followed a Dakota from East Anglia to Kleve, Germany.

I don't look at it very often, but I live close to Stansted flight paths (though they are still high, thankfully), and get our fair share of RAF and Army flying as well.

Also, for major Royal flypasts, the jets form up near Ipswich then more or less follow the railway line to London, and I can see them from a distance

Watch it daily, as I live under a Heathrow flightpath.

Went  to a local park Thursday and witnessed the final Heathrow take offs pre flypast, a couple of 380s... and tracked the jet forming up over the north sea . Didn't get the Lanc  but the Hercules's came straight over and the two beasts (the C17 and Atlas) flew not too far off
