Downton Abbey trains.

Not sure this is most appropriate  place, but has anyone watched Downton Abbey? SWMBO and I have started to watch it and I was interested in the train shown. I have googled it and the station they use is on the Bluebell line so what is the loco they use?
Ripon, which is where Downton Abbey is supposed to be was on the North Eastern, then LNER, but I presume that the loco is ex Southern with which I am not familiar. I thought it was when I first saw it by the head code discs. Also the train make up doesn't seem right with the goods wagon and brake behind two passenger coaches.

It's a television drama, not a railway documentary, they'd have an A4 pulling Intercity-liveried Mk3 coaches if it was the only stock available during filming

True , but they have tried to make a train that appears to be right for the era if you don't know
anything

The station on the Bluebell Line was Horsted Keynes. Previously they have also filmed on the NYMR using Pickering as being Kings Cross!!
I can't help with the loco as I don't watch the programme much. Often a box van was hauled before or behind a couple of coaches for any goods/parcels etc but not a brake van, methinks

Yes Nobby, I got  Horsted Keynes from Google, but didn't find the NYMR which would have been more appropriate. I too thought the brake van was an unnecessary addition.

NYMR do have Schools class 30926 'Repton' so possibly that may have been used in Southern livery

Thought that the loco might have been a Schools class but wasn't sure enough to say.
