Hi All,

I may have mentioned I recently got a new laptop, and have been sorting out various programs I use. Things like the program for focus stacking and video editing, as I am really enjoying learning and putting together my little videos :D

I had a photo editing program that came with my old camera. It was very limited, and I could not work out how to transfer it to my new computer, so I have been looking for something else, and found this .....

https://www.nchsoftware.com/photoeditor/index.html?kw=free%20photo%20editing%20software&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7qP9BRCLARIsABDaZzgEhoCVPtw9zvkL7L0P5T1Qb8p3lPgsKPwMRcq5rWxNbYFk9ax6fCgaAhB-EALw_wcB

It is absolutely free, as long as you promise not to use it commercially for profit (there is a box you tick, rather like "I have actually read through all the terms and conditions before agreeing to them !")

It does all the colour, brightness etc adjustments, crops and straightens photos, lets you add filters and effects, to turn pics black and white, sepia, painting like etc. Also adds text, inserts clip art, lets you add frames or boarders.... loads of stuff that's not too difficult to work out, and lots of video tutorials for stuff a bit puzzling  :D ;) :D

I expect you can guess I quite like it

One feature I have been playing with is collages.

I stuck two photos together, which you can see on my "Christmas Cracker" thread, and here are a couple of "Windmill Hill" .... first the windmill, then around the station .

There are over 40 different templates, including round pictures, crooked or overlapping, like in a scrap book, and you just slot your photos in. There is also a slider that lets you adjust the spacing between the photos.

I'm having a lot of fun with this , something else to play with while we're locked up  :D

Take care,

All best wishes

Kevin

My lad and I use NCH VideoPad for ... well editing videos obviously  :)  It does the job fine for our purposes.

Don't think I've tried their photo editor, mostly I just use the tools built into Windows 10 for simple clarity and lightness adjustments, cropping etc..  I do have Adobe PhotoShop somewhere if I really need to fiddle, but that's rare.
