Was glad they chose that one over Sir William A Stanier FRS as it saves me renaming but looks like I still may need to! :smiley-laughing:

Their tooling isn't correct for that one - 86101 was one of the three testbed locos for the Class 87 and therefore has a number of Class 87 features.

Hi

When did 86259 get the electric blue livery as I seem to recall there was an 86 in the retro 1960's electric blue livery running around in the late 80's, but, I thought it was an 86/4?

86259 Less Ross got original blue livery - as  best as you can for 2000s with orange lines and yellow ole warning stickers  when it was preserved but still has NR operational licence  S its good for railtours.

No a lot of help back dating due sealed headcode and headlamp moulding.

A number of the 86s and 87s gained heritage liveries in the run-up to them being withdrawn (although not 86259 as far as I remember). 86233 got the original blue livery and was named 'Alstom Heritage'. 87001 got BR blue (which it still has - it's now in the NRM). Think there was one in Intercity swallow (an 87 I think, but not certain), and an 87 in Network Southeast (nont an authentic livery for the class). Might have been a few others.

 Hi Gang,

86259 in its preserved/ mainline status should be easily backdated to 86233 in its Virgin Trains days as the TDM cables and Headlight are good for this period. Anything older than that needs modifications to remove the contrail stripe and headlight......but that shouldn't be impossible.

We do need some enterprising modeller to make MW cables in order to be able to reproduce 86/0, 86/3, 86/4 variants.....again not insurmountable from the bits box.

Later,
Stu from EGDL.

86401 will be very useful for anybody modelling the stretch of line from Glasgow Central to Polmadie. In fact, anybody modelling Polmadie Depot could save a bob or two by buying an unpowered version and stick it at the end of a rake of Caledonian sleeper stock and stick it on one of the front roads. (Ok, I'm only kidding, it DOES amke the occasional foray down the main line and is been seen in Em'bra as well. :D)
PS Its Ironic that a loco named after a well known Em'bra tourist attraction should spend so much of its time in God's City Residing at the Holy of Holies

86426 received a version of Electric Blue in 1987 as part of the InterCity anniversary celebrations. It was in the darker Rail Blue with larger than standard yellow ends and all the 80s front end plumbing.

From what I remember it lasted in that livery for some time and could be seen on any WCML duties (much like NSE 86401  :) )
